Position : Director, Logistics

Location : Cincinnati, OH

Job Purpose :

This position has responsibility for all altafiber/Hawaiian Telcom Logistics & Material needs.

Forecasting, Managing & Distributing materials to support operational demand in both geographies This covers all facets of Logistics to include; FTTH, FTTN, DSL, OSP build, Core Network, Consumer, Business, Installation/Repair & Reverse Logistics operations This person will define the overall supply chain logistics strategy, effectively understand and communicate with the internal and external customer to meet their need and manage all associated materials & logistics.

This includes oversight of forecasting, ordering, managing inventory, operating centralized warehouse facilities and coordinating material distribution across multiple business units in the altafiber/HT geographies.

The position is also responsible for effective and efficient management of personnel, inventory investment, and management of company owned materials at multiple altafiber, HT & Contractor locations in order to achieve corporate productivity, expense and capital management goals The position will also ensure compliance with internal and external standards and requirements.

Essential Functions :

Strategic Corporate Inventory Management

  • Maintain proactive and optimal inventory levels at various locations to meet the customer need while minimizing risk

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their material needs proactively, collaborate on materials forecasting models and share this forecasting with the stakeholders including associated budget timing

  • Remain dynamic as the business needs change and products evolve

  • Coordinate efforts with altafiber/HT purchasing team to maximize value on purchased materials

  • Manage inventory levels in coordination with internal client groups based on technology lifecycles, current business conditions, manufacturer lead times and other relevant factors

  • Manage a robust Reverse Logistics program to maximize inventory value by reconditioning / refurbishment / redeployment / resale / decommissioning

  • Coordinate annual physical inventories where required

Continual Process Improvement

  • Constantly analyze the business and create process improvements in the organization

  • Focus on service to internal customers & champion effective communication

  • Work to understand the internal customers need and develop efficient processes to support them

  • Create material delivery solutions to maximize technician time with customers

  • Ensure materials are onsite/on island prior to their need to minimize delay, Increasing efficiency

  • Personnel - Ensure organizational professionalism and effectiveness

  • Work to create material or process improvements in efforts to drive costs out of the business

Oversee warehouse & mail operations for the entire organization

  • Manage a disciplined warehouse / distribution hub environment

  • Manage several internal altafiber delivery / inventory locations

  • Responsibility to provide 24/7 access to materials when needed in support of the business

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and Sarbanes/Oxley requirements

Reporting and Analysis

  • Develop effective forecasting models and communicate with stakeholders

  • Develop metrics and SLA's for employees

  • Understand the data, measure, track, report and communicate results to leadership

Education :

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience :

Over 10 years in related field

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Understanding of fundamental inventory management principles

  • Possessing the ability to identify, develop & implement new processes and ideas

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience in telecommunications industry/logistics preferred

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to handle a high volume of work activities, coordinate and track multiple priorities

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Organizational agility
