Position : Global Payroll Director

Location : Ohio, OH

Job Purpose :

The Global Payroll Director is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of payroll processing and compliance for employees located in the US, Canada, and India. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, adherence to local tax laws and regulations, and providing support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries across multiple jurisdictions.

Essential Functions :

  • Payroll Processing

  • Participate in selection and implementation of new payroll software (HRIS)

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for employees in the US, Canada, and India, including data entry, calculation of wages, deductions, and adjustments.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and contracted workers.

  • Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate with payroll vendors or service providers in each country to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll.

  • Compliance

  • Stay up-to-date with payroll laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements in the US, Canada, and India.

  • Ensure payroll practices comply with local legal requirements, including tax withholding, social security contributions, and other deductions.

  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and statutory reports in compliance with applicable deadlines and regulations in each country.

  • Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and complete payroll records for employees in the US, Canada, and India, including employee information, earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings.

  • Generate payroll reports and audit trails as needed for management, accounting, and regulatory purposes.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data and information in accordance with privacy laws and company policies.

  • Employee Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees in the US, Canada, and India regarding payroll-related inquiries, issues, and concerns.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to employees on payroll matters, such as tax withholding, direct deposit setup, and payroll policies.

  • Communicate changes to payroll procedures or regulations to employees and ensure understanding and compliance.

  • Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy across multiple countries.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as HR, finance, and legal, to implement best practices and standardize payroll processes globally.

  • Stay informed about payroll technology solutions and tools to optimize international payroll operations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as HR and finance, to integrate payroll processes with other business functions, including but not limited to calculation of corporate team incentive award payments based on the approved plan, and maintaining supporting documentation for financial reporting purposes.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred

Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent certification preferred.

Experience:

10+ years of professional experience

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in global payroll administration, with knowledge of payroll laws and regulations in the US, Canada, and India.

  • Experience working with payroll software and systems, preferably with expertise in payroll platforms used in each country.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to navigate complex payroll calculations and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and stakeholders across different cultures and time zones.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.

Supervisory Responsibility :

This position has one or more employee direct reports.

Work Environment :

The work is performed remotely or in an office environment.
