Position : Senior Cloud Engineer
Job Purpose
The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer will focus on designing and developing automation to support continuous delivery and continuous integration processes. Successful candidates will have an obsessive focus on automation and building repeatable solutions. They will have demonstrated working expertise with one of three public hyper-scale technologies, including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform, leveraging services beyond basic IaaS provisioning with the ability to build expertise across other platforms. The candidate will be responsible for building a "DevOps" discipline within the organization. They will assist in the development and growth of the hybrid cloud strategy, including productizing public and private cloud services for AWS, VMware, Azure, and Google. They will work closely with Cloud Sales, Solution, and Enterprise Architecture teams to assess customer environments, incorporate requirements, and design modern hybrid cloud solutions. They will evangelize and educate on the benefits and future direction of Cloud DevOps methodologies.
Essential Functions
40% - Coding and developing continuous automation/delivery processes and tools
25% - Designing and building a hybrid cloud product in support of a Managed Services model
20% - Solution design and architecture, in support of customer assessments and sales engagements
15% - Training and educating staff, self-training, growth, and education
Experience
3 to 5 years of experience
Thorough understanding of emerging hybrid cloud environments (public & private)
Demonstrated general subject matter expertise for public & private cloud services environments
Primary interface with software vendors in support of application and infrastructure teams
Hands-on public cloud expertise, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud desired
Hands-on private cloud expertise, which may include: VMware and/or OpenStack desired
Hands-on Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, automation, integration, orchestration tools expertise, required
Hands-on Perl, Ruby, Python, Powershell, Javascript (or similar) expertise, required
Image management expertise - building, managing, maintaining, and patching (VMware, Amazon AMI's, OpenStack Ubuntu / CentOS)
Linux/Unix/Windows system administration and scripting expertise
Ability to perform consulting, architecture, implementation, support, and migration of Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google)
Ability to perform consulting, architecture, implementation, support, and migration to DevOps toolsets
Ability to create custom automation integration using tools such as VMware
Realize Automation, Chef, Puppet, and Ansible
Engineering experience building production infrastructure using code and repeatable designs
Experience in automation of code deployment across multiple cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMWare desired
Ability to evaluate and foster new partner products and solution capabilities within the Cloud & DevOps practice portfolio
Work closely with CBTS account managers and sales engineers to identity Cloud & DevOps opportunities at existing customers, and educate the teams on the solutions within the Cloud Practice product portfolio
Assist with delivery readiness and training for Cloud & DevOps offerings
Experience working in a large scale DevOps environment required
Experience with Docker containers and orchestration platforms desired
Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience evolving to Agile development lifecycles
Knowledge of networking and software-defined networking in cloud environments
Ability to articulate complex architectures to non-technical audiences
Ability to document solutions and train operational teams on supportability
Must have significant virtualization technology experience
Significant experience with large scale redundant infrastructure (compute, storage & network) architectures
Previous experience providing outstanding customer service, exceptional technical resolution, and problem-solving skills
Ability to leverage a global team of Project Managers, Architects, Engineers & Contractors
Proven track record in supporting all aspects of technology needs from start-up through maintenance required
Demonstrated ability to conceive and deliver a broad range of technology solutions to solve complex global application problems required
Experience working with Global Teams required
Experience supporting large multi-tiered projects and programs required
Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills desired
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment
Up to 10% travel may be required
Office environment, on occasion remote work is possible as agreed with your manager

Education
- Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Generally expect a Senior DevOps Engineer to have significant experience in information and cloud technologies. They are also required to have technical knowledge of specific systems and software development methodologies, such as DevOps Deployment, Agile Development, Waterfall, and RAD. Highly recommended that Cloud DevOps Engineers should promote their industry expertise, increasing their value, and competencies with professional industry certifications.
Outstanding customer service to Cloud customers
Operational mindset and approach for scripting, automating, orchestrating, day to day operational tasks using industry-standard tools like Puppet, Chef, Ruby, Perl, Powershell
Hands-on operational and technical support for infrastructure public and private cloud services, on AWS, VMware, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
Create/develop/update run book documentation and processes supporting day to day operational support
Develop and adhere to cloud consumption principles and educate customers on how to consume cloud services
Troubleshoot identity management and authentication issues and provide resolution
Work closely with service architects, engineering and infrastructure teams to help improve and grow knowledge
Ability to quickly respond to incidents, analyze and remediate to restore service
Day to day operational support of cloud services
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure cloud computing best practices are learned, followed, and applied
Initiate client troubleshooting sessions and recommend technical solutions for resolution
Create and update cloud services best practice and troubleshooting run books
Build customer relationships and communicate cloud consumption best practices
Design, learn and teach infrastructure and application architecture
Interface with software vendors for support as well as application and infrastructure teams
Develop, learn, update and follow production support and operations plan, including monitoring solutions
Ability to see things through the customer's perspective
Supervisory Responsibilities
